"The abandonment of the green hydrogen plant project by Romande Energie above all illustrates the conjunctural difficulties facing the hydrogen sector, particularly in Switzerland, and, to a lesser extent, in Europe and the United States," explains Simon Siggen for the Nomads Foundation.
"In the current economic climate, we could not take on the role of driving this sector forward on our own," explains Jérémie Brillet. Head of strategic developments at Romande Energie, he nevertheless assures that the DSO remains "attentive to its evolution."
A consortium led by the company GRZ Technologies, the Federal Office of Energy (OFEN) and The Ark Foundation has developed a hydrogen compressor using heat instead of electricity. A promising technology but with limited concrete potential.

"For hydrogen to reach competitive cost levels, support policies similar to those that have benefited solar energy are needed," says Jean-Luc Favre, president of the Nomads Foundation.
